American Constitutional Law

The American Constitution, written in 1789, soon after the establishment of the United States as an independent country, continues to impact virtually every aspect of American life today. This includes such controversial topics as gun control, abortion, the way in which the President is “elected”, gay marriage, equal rights, the powers of Congress and the Executive and the Judiciary and the process by which the Constitution may be amended.

The recent impeachment hearing of the current President followed the very same rules established by the Constitution some 231 years ago.

Often the written document is referenced as just that, the “written Constitution” and the interpretation placed on this by the judges, usually of the Supreme Court is called the “unwritten constitution”, a phrase which is somewhat misleading, as it simply refers to judicial interpretations of the Constitution.

This site will provide insight to these important issues in modern American life and also a review of questions which have arisen so recently in the presidential election of November 3, 2021.

It is important for all Americans and, indeed, people around the world, to understand how the American system of government works and how the Constitution impacts such important everyday aspects of American life.
